Who We Are

The Health Sciences Association of Alberta (HSAA) is a labour union representing more than 18,000 paramedical technical, professional, and general support employees in the public and private health care sectors of Alberta, Canada. HSAA maintains a head office in Edmonton and regional offices in Calgary and Lethbridge.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Health Sciences Association of Alberta is to enhance the quality of life of its members and society.

The HSAA Logo

The HSAA logo, which was unveiled at our Annual General Meeting in May 2006, is the creation of one of our members. Maria Tan is an occupational therapist at the University of Alberta Hospital. Maria says the logo is meant to look like a sunrise, symbolizing new beginnings and a fresh start. Maria says it also represents the idea of HSAA and its membership as a reliable presence in the health field, like the sun rising each day.

"Welcome to HSAA" is an eight minute video introducing new members to Health Sciences. It is also designed to inform non-union health care employees about the advantages of joining HSAA. The video includes short interviews with HSAA members describing the services Health Sciences provides and the value of belonging to their union. HSAA would like to thank these members for sharing in their own words their experiences with Health Sciences.
